The Eads Bridge is an engineering masterpiece which in 1874 linked St. Louis to the east bank of the Mississippi for road and rail transportation. James B. Eads designed and built the bridge, which at the time of completion in 1874 was the longest-span arch bridge in the world. Today, the bridge serves pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular and Metrolink light rail traffic.
